At the height of the California Gold Crush in 1953, Levi Strauss, an immigrant from Germany, established a fabric trading company. During his work there he discovered that there was a strong need for work clothing that was made to endure. He and tailor Jacob Davis combined copper rivets with sturdy denim, and thus made the first set of waist overalls in 1973 .... the 'jeans' were born. Wear jeans, live in Levi's!
