The label Polder was created by two sisters, Madelon Lanteri-Laura and Natalie Vodegel, who were born and raised in the Netherlands. They spent their childhood living in an area where forested hills overlooked polders that stretched out as far as the eye could see. They both studied archeology and art history at Paris University and at the Ecole du Louvre. Madelon and Natalie then both started working with fashion designers like Hermès. Polder was created in 2000 and in January 2008, they presented their first kid's accessories collection "April showers by polder", which is now called Polder Girl. From the very beginning, hand made components, which bring a unique and handcrafted quality to the collection, have been highly significant in polder's creations. Shapes are extremely pure, the work is focused on the research for prints and materials, colours and finish aim at creating a visually strong and acknowledgeable product. The collections are a mix of a Nordic spirit, with a French touch of vintage.
